NEWSLETTER - Volume 13 - August, 1998

========================================

Dear participants,

We hope you had all a wonderful vacation. And that you all are looking forward to a new schoolyear.

We certainly are. We had a great vacation! Joan Goble and her family spent a week with René de Vries in the Netherlands. And after that, René and his family spent three weeks with Joan in Indiana, USA. It was thrilling to meet each other again, and to do many things together for four weeks. Maybe you are interested in our adventures. We made a special page for all our participants about our summervacation. It can be found on URL: http://www.tenan.vuurwerk.nl/summer98/summer98.htm

(We also make a link to it from our TENAN frontpage)

Of course we had time to talk about our project TENAN. We want to continue this project; we hope you all will send in new reports on new animals. We are more then glad to post them for you on our site. If you need help, just email us.

We also talked about new projects. And we are glad to announce that we will launch a new project in September. All the participants of TENAN will receive a special invitation to join our new project. On this moment we are working very hard to publish some pages of that project on Internet. When this is done, we will inform you about it.

********Good News************Good News***********

*** It is not completely sure, but there is a pretty good change that Joan Goble and René de Vries will be invited on the Global Learning Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark. We shall present our TENAN project as an example that Global Learning can be done! Collaboration between teachers, students and schools is possible by using Internet. You, our participants, showed that to the world last schoolyear, and we thank you for all your efforts. We hope that we can tell the teachers at this international conference that you all will continue sending in new reports. More news about the conference can be found on the URL: http://www.globallearning.org

*** One of our participating schools, Marionville High School in Marionville, Missouri was featured in the summer issue of the Missouri Conservationist!! They were featured because of their reports they did on several endangered animals in Missouri. Way to go, Marionville, and all of the students in Mrs. Rebecca Cavener's class!!!

*** This project, TENAN, will be featured also in an upcoming issue of the Indiana Computer Educator's Newsletter...(ICE). If you are a subscriber, be looking for this article. It tells how this project began and more. We will post the article on our site when it is published.

That is all for now...please email us if you have any additions or corrections to add to this newsletter. ;-)

Sincerely,

Joan Goble and René de Vries
