Argentine Boa

The Argentine Boa is 3 meters long and weighs 15 kilos. People call it lapalaua. Its scientific name is Boa Constrictor Occidentalis. Its body is dark brown with a light and dark pattern.
It lives in Bolivia, Paraguay and Argentina. In Argentina you can find them in Salta, Formosa, Chaco, Jujuy, Santiago del Estero, Tucumán, La Rioja, Catamarca, San Juan, Córdoba, Mendoza and San Luis.
This snake hunts at night. They eat animals that have hot blood like small birds and rodents. They use constriction to kill their prey.

The little lampalagua is different from its mother and father because it is lighter than them. It is pink and light red. The females have between 15-40 youngs in 5 months. They are born between March and May. The youngs can be 40 cm long.
It is in danger of extinction because men are destroying its habitat to get more coal and wood.
