The American Crocodile is endangered.

It is a reptile.

The animal lives in marshy areas and rivers.

The countries the American Crocodile lives in are Belize, Columbia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Florida (USA), and Venezuela.

The colors are brownish/green, it has a long narrow skull, pointed snout, and it is 11-12 feet long.

There are 100-400 left in the Florida Keys, and 175-250 left in the Dominican Republic. These are the two largest populations of the American Crocodile.

They can live as long a 100 years.

They eat mostly fish and swallow their prey whole.

Forty eggs are laid at once.

The greatest threat to survival for the animal is loss of habitat.

The American Crocodile eats rocks, which stay inside their stomach and grind up their food.

They are protected in 7 countries and can be found in the Everglades National Park. It is illegal to feed, tease, harass, molest, capture, or kill an American Crocodile.

A current issue concerning this animal is the burning of the Everglades.
