Common Name: Asiatic lion
Scientific name: Panthera leo persica
Animal's status: Endangered

What is the animal's habitat? dry deciduous forest dominated by teaks 

Where is the animal's habitat? The Gir Forest in India

Animal's description: Like the African lion except it has a longitude fold of skin running along the belly and the Asiatic has a shorter mane and it is smaller in size.

Population: 221 in the Gir forest

Average life span: 17-18 years some up to the age of 21

Food: manly chital and sambar deer

Reproduction: Season is year round with a peak from late winter to early summer

Age of first reproduction: female 4 years , male 5-8 years

Litter size: 2.5 avg.

What threatens the life of the animal: livestock and humans

What type of protection is made for them: CITES Appendix Is fully protected in India.
