Red-Crowned Crane
| The Red-crowned crane has a white body. Its neck and the tips of its wings are black. The top of the red-crowned crane's head is just red skin. It keeps its enemies away because it looks like blood. And that is why it is called the red-crowned crane. You can usually find it in Asia, China, and Japan. The Red-crowned crane eats insects, aquatic invertebrates, fish, amphibians, and rodents, as well as reeds. Its habitat is the China-Russian border region. The Red-crowned crane's Latin name is Grus Japonensis. Do you know why the Red-crowned crane is endangered? The Red-crowned crane has recently been poisoned by duck hunters at Ancheng. They used duck poison to hurt the Red-crowned crane. The reason we don't want the Red-crowned crane to become extinct from our planet is because it eats many insects. Here is an amazing fact about the Red-crowned crane! It has one of the most beautiful dances in the bird world. Crane dances have a very important purpose. Adult cranes live in male-female pairs, and these dances help strengthen the bond between the two birds! |
