Jaguar

Panthera onca is it's Latin name. It's natural habitat is in South America. Did you ever see a jaguar? A jaguar can grow to be 5 to 8 feet. It's color is orange and black. It's family group is the cat family. It eats capybatas, monkeys, peccaries, and deer.

It is endangered because it is hunted for it's fur so people can wear it's fur. As a result of habitat destruction, many are not able to live in many areas they are near extinction. Why we don't want jaguars to become extinct because it is very beautiful to look at.

Hear are some interesting things about jaguars. Jaguar is from a American Indian word meaning "killer that takes it's prey in a single bound." Like most big cats, jaguars enjoy water. Jaguars are strong and will follow their prey into water during the chase.
