Round Island Day Gecko

The Round Island Day Gecko is a dull green animal. It is the biggest gecko being at 28 cm long. It's Latin name is Phelsuma Quentheri. It will eat any insects at all. It lives near the island of Marititus in the Round Islands.

This animal started to get endangered in 1840. How you ask? I'll tell you. Round Island was once a beautiful island, covered with hardwood forests. In 1840, rabbits and goats were released for possible food supply for future visitors. These introduced animals reproduced rapidly. They soon upset the fragile balance of life on the island. They ate all the low growing plants like seedling palms and other trees and shrubs. The soil was exposed and began to erode. The soil around the roots washed away. Mature trees were easily blown over by occasional cyclones.

If you like lizards you probably don't want them to be extinct. So there is an animal chain. If the Round Island Day Gecko gets extinct, some other animals might start to die. And that's why I wanted you to know about my animal.
