Maned Wolf

The Maned wolf weighs 50 pounds. It's nick name is the slit legged fox. It is 3 feet at the showered high. The place it lives is the grasslands of South America. It's Latin name is the Chrysocyon Bhachurus. The family group it lives in is the candae (dos). The food it eats is small mammals field nice chicken and fruit. It is an omnivore. The colors on it are gold-red fur and black and white. In the world is it found it is found in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Peru. There is a lot know about the Maned wolf.

It is endangered because of its natural habitat is being destroyed from so much farming. Between 2,200-4,400 are surviving. We want them to survive because they give us a beauty to our world. When scared their fur stands up on its back. Their long legs are needed to see over tall grass and to pin down prey. They are nocturnal. They are independent and timid. Its believed to have super natural healing powers. Its right eye is supposed to bring luck to gamblers in Brazilian folklore, so people kill them for their eyes!
