Black and White Lemur
| A lemur's Latin name is Varecia variegata variegata. It lives in the primates group. The lemur lives in the rain forests of Madagascar. It's about 10 lbs. Their fur is black and white. The lemur eats fruit and plants. Now I will tell you why it's endangered. It's endangered because people have been cutting down trees. Predators have finding lemurs and eating them. I don't want it to be extinct from our planet. It deserves to live on this planet. Once it's gone it's gone forever. Here are some interesting facts about the lemur. There is no way to tell the difference between male and female lemurs. They groom each other with their teeth. If a lemur spots a predator it will make a loud warning call. Their eyes glow a reddish color in the dark. Over half of the births are twins. Females get pregnant at 20 months. Only about 25% of births are not twins. |
