Their faces, noses, hands, feet and ears are light flesh and have no fur. Chimpanzees live in the western central area of Africa. They live in warm rainy forests. Chimpanzees live 9,000 feet above sea. They live in the swamp on the mountains. Chimpanzees eat fruit and flowers. They hunt animals and kill young monkeys and pigs. Chimpanzees eat insects. they poke in the termite’s nests to eat them. They eat the termites like a snack. Chimpanzees learn how to use tools. When chimpanzees have babies they are four pounds and they ride on their mothers back for 6 months. Chimps grow up slowly and they live for 60 years. Chimpanzees stay with their mother for eight years. They have one baby at a time. Chimps are endangered by people destroying their homes in the swamps. The people destroy their homes for wood. Chimpanzees move by climbing trees and walk and run on ground. Chimpanzees communicate by doing sign language. |
