Koalas
| Did you know that koalas eat for four hours a day? They sleep for 18 hours a day? Koalas are marsupials. Marsupials are a kind of animal. Koalas have round faces, small brown eyes, big black noses, furry ears, small mouths and very sharp teeth. They also have very thick fur. It is brownish-gray. Baby koalas live in their mother’s tummy for about 35 months. Sometimes they have twins. Koalas eat eucalyptus leaves and bark. They get their water from food. Koalas live in Australia in eucalyptus trees. They don’t move around much. They live for 20 years in zoos. They bark and grunt when they want to talk to each other. There are not many koalas left because owls and people attack them. |
