Lions

Lions are great cats. Male lions are three feet tall. They weigh 300 to 400 pounds. Some even weigh 600 pounds. Males have a thick mane. Females are called lionesses, they are smaller than males. Lions live in Africa and India. These areas have tall grass, shady places, playing places. Lions eat zebras and other large animals. Babies have brown fur with spots. This helps them hide in the tall grass with camouflage. People are the lions enemies. Poachers sell teeth, claws, and fur for money. In the wild the number of lions is very small. More lions die each year than being born we need large wild places. Many zoos are trying to make lions life the same as in the wild.
