Common Name : Orange-bellied Parrot

Scientific Name : Neophema chrysogaster

Habitat :
Breeds in sedgeplains of Tasmania and winters in coastal saltmarshes near Melbourne Victoria.

Diet :
Grass seeds - sedge seeds in Summer and seeds of saltmarsh plants in Winter.

Size :
Grows to about 215mm and weighs only 50grams.

Danger :

Clearing land for farms, birds being trapped for the bird trade, fires through the grasslands and competition from other parrots.
