Night Parrot

Common Name : Night Parrot

Scientific Name : Geopsitticus occidentalis

Habitat :
Waterholes surrounded by woodland in the desert areas of Western Queensland.

Diet :
Eats green plant material and seeds of porcupine grass.

Size :
It is about 230mm in length and has a fairly short tail for a parrot.

Danger :

The introduction of stock has been a problem for these birds who live in tunnels under the ground. Stock use the waterholes and trample the ground.
