Common Name : Melville Island Cicadabird

Scientific Name : Coracina tenuirostris melvillensis

Habitat :
It lives in monsoon forests and mangrove swamps in the extreme north of Australia from Broome to the Macarthur River in Northern Territory and including Melville Island.

Diet :
It eats fruit and seeds and insects and their lavae.

Size :
It is about 250mm in length.

Danger :

It is a well camouflaged bird that is silent most of the year and makes cicada sounds in the breeding season. For this reason there may be more of them than we know of.
