Adult male sea lions get to be 2-2.5 meters long. Adult females get to be 1.5-2 meters long. Sea lions flippers let them travel on land and in water. The bones in a sea lions flippers are similar to the bones in our hands and arms. From May to July, male sea lions establish breeding territories along the coasts of Southern California and Baja California .Their breeding places are called rookeries. Sea lion pups are born with their eyes open and are able to make noises. They are able to swim but not very well. Sea lions are called sea lions because of the ways they bark and roar.
