A newborn cub weighs around 5 pounds and is all white at birth. The
panda bear can weigh up to 350 pounds. It was once considered that the
panda was a part of the raccoon family, but it now is considered a
true bear. When they cry, they sound just like a human baby. The panda
does not breed well in zoos, which is partially why they are so rare.

Zoos have tried to breed the pandas, the Chinese government has set up
"panda corridors", which are paths that connect the bamboo
forests together.

The fact that there is little bamboo, and people afraid of their
extinction.

All I can think of is the need to have a constant supply of bamboo.

Panda cub meets the press
The zoo’s giant panda cub made her first appearance in front of
a good-sized crowd Tuesday, as part of keeper’s attempts to get
her ready for public viewing. Members of the media as well as zoo
staff and researchers were invited to watch Hua Mei stroll around
her enclosure. Zoo visitors may get a chance to see the cub within
