Hawksbill Sea Turtle

My endangered species project is on the Hawksbill sea turtle. Science classifies the Hawksbill sea turtle into four categories. The first category is phylum, the second is Reptilia (reptiles), the third is Testudines and the fourth is Cheloniidae.

Their average mass or weight is fourty-five kilograms. They range about 22-166 inches in length.

Their scientific name is Imbricata, which means overlapping plates on the upper shell.

They are found in seas all around the world. Its range extends from Africa to Asia to North America.  The Hawksbill sea turtle is just like other sea turtles. During breeding season, it comes out of the water and lays its eggs.

According to scientists, their behavior is very aggressive. People do not like hunting  the Hawksbill sea turtle because its meat is poisonous. If you try to eat a Hawksbill sea turtle's meat, you have a good chance of dying.

The reason why the population has been dying off over the years is because when they lay their eggs, they are stolen by predators or humans.

Some ways to help save this animal is to stop all predators and humans from stealing eggs. We need to protect them and make sure they are not harmed.

Some facts about the Hawksbill sea turthe are they become gigantic animals when they re full grown and they migrate all over the world. They are interesting to do a report on. I think the Hawksbill sea turtle is a wonderful and friendly animal.  We should treat them as we want to be treated.
