When the Chinstrap Penguin calls for his mate he lifts his head up in the air and sticks his flippers out. He calls very loudly. The female hears the male above all the noise.  The female goes to the male and mates with the very same penguin that it did last year. They build their nest in the same place they did last year. At the end of moulting season they mate and lay their eggs.
