Habitat
Pandas live in the bamboo forests of Southwest China and Eastern Tibet. Pandas live In the mountainous regions of China, such as Sichuan, Gansu, and Shaanuxi. Pandas used to live in widely distributed areas of China and Burma, but today they only exist in small scattered populations.

Prey or Predator
Pandas are omnivores. They mostly eat bamboo. They peel off the outer covering and eat the inner pith. Pandas may eat 20 pounds or more of bamboo a day. Pandas also eat small amounts of fish, pikas, rodents, vines, irises, crocus, flowers and occasionally they steal honey from farmers who live off the mountains.

Animal Facts
Pandas have something like a thumb but it's not. It's a large wristbone called radial sesamoid bone. Pandas can eat more than 10,000 pounds of bamboo a year. Pandas can eat bamboo stalks that are up to 1 1/2 inches thick. Panda's jaws could crush a bone easily.

What Can We Do?
Pandas are endangered for many reasons. First of all, pandas are restricted to only certain parts of China and Tibet. March to May is their only breeding span. We also put them in captivity where they sometimes don't mate. Poachers ignore the laws and hunt them illegally. And Chinese cut down bamboo so they can farm. But if we keep them in wild, stop cutting down bamboo and reinforce the laws the laws to protect pandas against poachers their future may look a little brighter!
