The Sea Turtle

turtle

Animal Facts
Sea turtles have no exact population because they have not been surveyed long enough to tell. They were classified endangered in June 2, 1970. Scientists don't know how they became endangered but they do have some ideas. Some of their ideas are egg poachers, and shrimpers' nets.

Habitat
Sea turtles live in warm temperate seas throughout the world . Adults inhabit shallow coastal waters, bays, and lagoons. For nesting, sea turtles chose undisturbed beaches.

What Can We Do?
To save these animals, scientists are trying to make people stop collecting eggs and polluting oceans.

Predator and Prey
Sea turtles have many predators. Most of them have to do with humans, such as plastic pieces or pollution, hunters or eggpoachers, tortoise shell trade, and shrimpers' nets. The rest are parts of nature such as snakes, crows, and hawks. Sea turtles also have lots of prey such as small fish or crayfish, water insects, sea grasses, crabs, shrimp and jellyfish.
