The Humpback Whale

This research report is on the Humpback whale. The humpback whale is a marine mammal. Its scientific name is the megptera novaengliae. The humpback whale is endangered. This is information on food, habitat, appearance, interesting facts and threats. My report is to help you know things that you don't know about the humpback whale.
The humpback whale is toothless. It has rough and it is hairy to trap food. The humpback whales length is 57 feet (17.5 meters). The humpback whale weighs 45 tons. It has a big body and a huge head. The humpback whale has a black back and a white abdomen. It has long flippers that are unique among other whales, one-third is the body length. The humpback whale has little bumps and long hair on its head and neck. It has small dorsal fins in the center of its back.
During the winter the humpback whale goes south and during the summer the humpback whale returns north. It lives close to the coast lines in Labrador of the Grand Banks. The humpback whale moves to the flat ocean in the summer time. The water is 15 and 16 meters deep.
The humpback whale eats krill that means tiny fish. It only eats organisms >that live in the water. They like to eat plankton that is very tiny. The humpback whale likes sardines, mackerel and  anchovies. The humpback whale is endangered because of its threats. Oil pollution kills the humpback whale. The humpback whale gets caught in the fishing net. Some countries still hunt the humpback whale but not in Canada. Sometimes they are hunting them in the 1800s and 200000 were hunted for the blubber. Blubber means the fat under the skin. In 1955 they had to protect them in the north Atlantic and in 1965 in the north Pacific.
The humpback whale has a lot of interesting facts. The humpback whale has very famous songs that are 30 minutes long. You can here the songs 100 miles away. The humpback whale is called that because it has a hump on its back. Each flipper is different. They have blow holes to breathe. The humpback whale and other whales can jump 20 feet in the air. The humpback whale can hold its breath for 1 hour under water.
